Job description

About Angel Invest

Angel Invest is a leading early-stage investor in Europe, backing around 75 startups each year across the continent. The firm mainly participates in pre-seed and seed rounds, typically investing €125k per company. It also operates a later-stage fund that supports portfolio companies as they scale beyond the earliest phases.

The team looks for ambitious founders building differentiated companies. After investing, Angel Invest provides active support for at least a year to help companies reach product-market fit and get ready for Series A fundraising. Roughly 60% of its portfolio companies later raise a Series A.

Angel Invest has backed more than 250 startups, which have together raised over €2 billion in follow-on capital and achieved a combined market value of more than €4 billion. Its portfolio includes companies such as Rasa, Taktile, Peec AI, LizzyAI, Huzzle, dltHub, Originator, and Fonio.

In 2025, the firm co-founded the Technology Briefing Center (TBC), a Berlin-based think tank focused on connecting frontier technology research with strategic business decisions. This role sits within the TBC and works across research, corporate limited partner engagement, and venture capital.

Role Overview

Angel Invest is hiring an AI Research Consultant to join the team in Berlin. The position offers a strong entry point into venture capital, combining AI-focused research with exposure to the wider investing process. While the role touches deal flow, sourcing, and investment decisions, the core responsibility is to develop strong expertise in artificial intelligence and turn that knowledge into practical insights for the investment team, portfolio founders, and corporate LPs.

As part of the Technology Briefing Center, you will lead important research initiatives, prepare technology briefings, and help run executive-level events. A major part of the job involves direct interaction with corporate LPs, including writing regular reports, hosting webinars, delivering customized research and presentations for senior leaders, and co-organizing invitation-only gatherings such as executive clubs and AI adoption workshops. Over time, you will become a key internal resource for AI-related topics.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate AI market shifts, competitor positioning, and practical use cases across different sectors.
  • Create investment viewpoints and build clear, persuasive presentations for internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Contribute to the Technology Briefing Center by preparing quarterly reports, webinars, and strategic analysis on AI developments.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with corporate LP contacts at multiple levels, including knowledge-sharing sessions, tailored briefings, and workshops for senior executives.
  • Join deal flow discussions and add AI-specific analysis and evidence-based recommendations on opportunities.
  • Partner with the venture capital team to refine the AI investment thesis using current research, technological progress, and market signals.
  • Assist on AI-related transactions by providing relevant sector context and research support when required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree is required.
  • Proven strength in artificial intelligence, gained through academic work, professional experience, published content, or standout projects.
  • Native-level German proficiency (C2) plus strong English fluency.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation abilities, with the skill to simplify complex technical ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and stay effective in a fast-moving environment with substantial autonomy.
  • Strong curiosity about how AI is changing industries, business models, and technology stacks, along with regular hands-on use of the latest AI tools, models, and products.

Perks and Benefits

  • Direct access to venture capital work with practical AI-sector exposure from the start.
  • The chance to build highly visible expertise in AI through research and engagement with corporate decision-makers.
  • Exposure to deal flow, sourcing, and investment decisions alongside seasoned partners.
  • Access to a broad network of investors, founders, and corporate executives.
  • Guidance and mentorship from experienced leaders in venture capital.
  • A competitive compensation and benefits package, including Urban Sports and BVG.
  • Regular off-sites and internal team events.

Diversity and Inclusion

Angel Invest Ventures is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity, inclusion, and fair access for all candidates and employees. Hiring decisions are made based on experience, motivation, skills, and performance.
