AI Product Intern

Role overview

SumUp’s AI Platform team creates internal and customer-facing capabilities that help merchants run their businesses more intelligently. A key focus of the team is Edge, the company’s AI assistant, which supports insights, automation, document handling, and market intelligence across millions of merchant interactions. This role is a practical opportunity to contribute to active product work in a fast-moving fintech environment.

You’ll work directly with product, engineering, data science, and design colleagues, taking ownership of real tasks rather than observing from the sidelines. The position is based in Berlin and is suited to someone who enjoys AI, structured thinking, and turning early ideas into well-defined product work.

What you will work on

• Assist the Group Product Manager with one or two live product initiatives, supporting them from early discovery all the way to requirements that engineering can implement.
• Draft concise product briefs, structured requirements, and discovery notes that make it easier for the team to move quickly.
• Prepare and update competitor and market reviews for the AI product space.
• Monitor progress on initiatives, keep relevant stakeholders updated, and raise risks or blockers early.
• Work alongside engineers, data scientists, and designers in day-to-day team activities such as stand-ups, planning meetings, and review sessions.

What SumUp is looking for

• You are currently studying for, or have recently completed, a degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field.
• You can write clearly and logically, especially when producing briefs, analyses, or requirement documents.
• You are comfortable operating in uncertain situations and can create structure where the problem is still evolving.
• You already use AI tools regularly in your workflow and understand the broader AI product environment.
• You communicate well with different audiences, including senior stakeholders, both in writing and in conversation.

Additional information

This is an onsite position in Berlin. SumUp is looking for someone who is curious, proactive, and eager to learn through hands-on work. The company encourages applicants who may not meet every point of the profile but are interested in growing into the role.
