About Kargo
Kargo fosters impactful connections between brands and consumers, enhancing business outcomes. With over 600 employees, they innovate using agentic AI, CTV, eCommerce, social, and mobile platforms to create exceptional advertising experiences across premium global platforms. Operating for more than 20 years, Kargo has offices in multiple cities including New York, Chicago, and London.
Position Overview
As an AI Engineer on the Data & AI team, you will architect and scale AI-powered tools for the commercial side of the business. This role bridges revenue teams and AI infrastructure, identifying key automation opportunities, building intelligent workflows, and deploying reliable systems integrated with platforms such as Salesforce, Snowflake, and Slack. The position requires working onsite four days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, deploy, and maintain AI-driven automations and agent workflows using cutting-edge orchestration frameworks like LangGraph, n8n, OpenAI tooling, and MCP-compatible architectures, integrating with Salesforce, Slack, Snowflake, Atlassian, Google Workspace, Looker, and Airtable.
- Develop production-level LLM applications (agent workflows, retrieval systems, internal copilots) to support knowledge access, workflow management, decision-making, and dynamic content creation.
- Convert business challenges into modular, extensible, fault-tolerant automation flows that are easily monitored and debugged.
- Establish and uphold governance practices including prompt engineering standards, testing of agents, audit logs, and feedback mechanisms to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with teams across Sales, Client Services, Media Strategy, Marketing, Product, and Operations to identify automation opportunities, quickly prototype solutions, document tools, and encourage self-service adoption.
- Lead the AI Operations roadmap, presenting priorities and plans to Data & AI leadership based on business impact and feasibility derived from active commercial discovery.
- Act as an internal expert on applied AI, keeping abreast of advances in LLMs and agent technologies, and sharing insights to increase AI literacy throughout the company.
Qualifications
- 5 to 8+ years focused on systems automation, internal tooling, or process/data engineering with tangible experience using orchestration platforms such as n8n, LangGraph, Zapier, or Make.
- Strong skills in Python or JavaScript for developing custom connectors and scripting, with deep knowledge of SaaS APIs and system interoperability.
- Demonstrated experience building production-grade LLM-powered solutions utilizing ChatGPT Enterprise and related APIs, including use of evaluation and observability tools.
- Experience with AI-assisted development platforms such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex to enhance development speed.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively between technical teams and revenue leadership, ensuring solutions meet adoption and functional needs post-deployment.
- Results-driven mindset favoring rapid deployment, iterative development based on real user feedback, judicious build vs. buy decisions, and focus on adoption and reduced friction rather than code volume.
- Preferred but not required: experience with prompt libraries, embedding-based retrieval/vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate, RAG pipelines, lightweight internal UI tools like Retool or Streamlit, and continuous deployment tools such as ArgoCD or Kubernetes CI/CD.
Compensation and Equality
The expected base salary for this full-time U.S. role is between $140,000 and $180,000 annually, with eligibility for participation in Kargo's Incentive Plan. The exact compensation depends on factors including location, experience, education, and skills.
Kargo is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fostering diversity and inclusion. Candidates will be considered fairly without regard to race, gender, disability, or other protected characteristics. Additionally, Kargo complies with relevant fair chance hiring laws.
