Job description
Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Agile Scrum Master to join and lead a Security Operations (SecOps) Engineering team based in Toronto with a hybrid work arrangement. This long-term contractual role requires a professional who can champion Agile delivery effectiveness by managing team velocity, enabling the smooth execution of Scrum events, and swiftly resolving obstacles that hinder productivity within a dynamic security and technology setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and facilitate core Agile ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives to ensure team alignment and progress.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, and various stakeholders to guarantee efficient sprint planning and backlog prioritization.
- Identify and eliminate impediments that negatively affect team output and delivery schedules.
- Shield the team from external interference, helping maintain focus on sprint goals and priorities.
- Track and analyze Agile performance indicators such as team velocity, burndown charts, sprint advancement, and cumulative flow charts to boost delivery predictability and effectiveness.
- Advocate Agile methodologies and provide coaching to team members on Scrum principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Build and nurture a cooperative and high-achieving team culture that promotes responsibility and openness.
- Support management of dependencies, risk detection, and issue resolution across interdisciplinary teams.
- Initiate and lead process enhancements aimed at increasing delivery speed, quality, and team productivity.
- Regularly generate reports providing insights about sprint status, delivery progress, and team performance metrics.
Required Qualifications
- More than 5 years of proven experience as a Scrum Master in Agile software development or engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of Scrum, Agile methodologies, and Lean principles.
- Strong track record facilitating Agile ceremonies and managing sprint-related activities effectively.
- Experience in monitoring Agile metrics such as velocity, burndown, throughput, and team capacity to inform continuous improvement.
- Proven skills in removing obstacles and spearheading process improvement efforts.
- Excellent capabilities in stakeholder engagement, communication, and facilitation.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams within complex enterprise contexts.
- Proficiency with Agile project management tools including JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or equivalents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in supporting Security Operations (SecOps), Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, or Engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of Agile delivery within technical and operational frameworks.
- Experience coaching teams through Agile maturity progressions and organizational transformations.
- Familiarity with DevOps, IT Operations, or security-related delivery methodologies.
Certifications
- Must hold a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification.
- Additional advanced Agile certifications such as CSPO, SAFe Scrum Master, or PMI-ACP are advantageous.
Compensation and Work Details
This position is a long-term contract role paying between CAD 50 and CAD 55 per hour. The work is onsite in a hybrid model based in Toronto, Ontario.
