Job description
Role Overview
Naissus Inc. is hiring an After-Hours Operations Specialist to coordinate trucking fleet activities outside normal office hours. This position acts as the main point of contact for drivers on the road and helps keep freight moving safely, legally, and on schedule during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
The role suits someone who works well in a high-pressure setting, makes sound decisions independently, and can solve problems quickly when issues arise.
Key Duties
- Track active shipments and transit lanes through TMS and GPS tools so priority freight reaches its scheduled delivery windows.
- Respond to driver calls and emails with dispatch details, routing instructions, and pickup or delivery reference numbers.
- Record accident reports right away and arrange follow-up support such as transportation, hotel stays, and required DOT drug testing.
- Coordinate with approved outside maintenance providers when trucks break down or service delays occur on the road.
- Review driver ELD and e-log activity to support compliance with DOT Hours of Service rules.
- Look for unused truck capacity and pair it with urgent or delayed freight to improve fleet utilization.
- Log shipment changes, delay reasons, ComCheck activity, and driver notes in the internal system to ensure a smooth handoff to the morning shift.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in trucking dispatch, logistics operations, or a fast-moving customer service call center.
- Full flexibility to work overnight, rotating weekends, and public holidays.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and electronic logging.
- Comfort using tracking and logistics systems such as TMW/Totalmail, McLeod, Google Workspace, or similar tools.
- Clear spoken and written communication skills for handling drivers, vendors, and customers in tense situations.
Preferred Strengths
- Strong multitasking ability and comfort managing competing priorities without direct supervision.
- Good emotional control and stress management when dealing with upset drivers or roadside breakdowns.
- Fast, practical decision-making to reduce delays and control fleet costs.
Compensation
The role offers a monthly salary starting at $1,300.
