Role Summary
The Acquisition Specialist will be part of the Boston, MA team and will support the end-to-end acquisition process in a hybrid setup that combines office and remote work. This position involves identifying prospective targets, making initial contact, and coordinating communication with owners and intermediaries. The role also includes market research, review of financial and operational information, drafting investment memos, and assisting with due diligence. In addition, the specialist will help manage timelines, monitor deal status, and work with internal teams to keep acquisition projects moving smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Source potential acquisition targets and help build the pipeline of opportunities.
- Reach out to business owners and intermediaries and maintain professional communication throughout the process.
- Conduct research on markets, industries, competitors, and broader business trends.
- Review financial and operational information to support investment evaluation.
- Prepare concise investment memos, summaries, and presentation materials.
- Support due diligence activities and help organize information during the review process.
- Track deal progress, coordinate schedules, and manage key milestones across workstreams.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to support efficient execution of acquisition initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical ability, including interpreting financial statements, judging business performance, and forming evidence-based recommendations.
- Background or strong interest in acquisitions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, private equity, or similar deal-focused work.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create summaries, presentations, and professional correspondence.
- Solid project and workflow management skills, including tracking deliverables and coordinating across teams.
- Capability in market research and competitive analysis to identify and assess acquisition opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency; familiarity with CRM or deal-tracking tools is an advantage.
- Comfort working independently and with others in a hybrid setup, along with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Experience in investment banking, consulting, or corporate strategy is helpful but not essential.
