Job description
Role Overview
DSP Consultants is seeking an Acoustic Consultant to support acoustic engineering projects in the United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on applying acoustic expertise to consultancy assignments, working closely with engineering teams and project stakeholders to deliver accurate calculations, modeling outputs, and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare CAD and SketchUp-related design work as instructed by acoustic engineers.
- Apply strong knowledge of HVAC and MEP acoustics studies.
- Edit provided CAD files so they can be imported smoothly into acoustic noise modeling tools, including simplifying site plans and setting the correct geo-referenced coordinate system.
- Carry out building acoustic calculations for sound insulation, room acoustics, and building services.
- Contribute acoustic input to master planning work and environmental impact assessments.
- Use acoustic modeling software to support calculations and analysis.
- Respond to team and project requirements within agreed timelines.
- Follow health and safety practices in line with company policies.
- Continue building technical knowledge and keep up with developments in the field.
Qualifications and Experience
The role requires 4 to 6 years of experience in acoustic consultancy, with the most recent experience specifically gained in the consultancy environment.
- Solid understanding of acoustic principles.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability, along with the capacity to present findings clearly in reports and presentations.
- Bachelor’s degree in acoustic engineering, architectural engineering, or a related discipline; a higher qualification is an advantage.
- Professional membership with IOA or MEAS is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Odeon, CATT, EASE, SoundFlow, or CadnaA.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, interior designers, MEP engineers, and structural engineers.
- Capability to understand client requirements accurately.
- Comfortable working with Excel calculations and formatting.
- Willingness to learn new tools, methods, and subject areas.
- Adherence to company policies, training material, and openness to new ideas and solutions.
- Familiarity with different project stages and scope-based requirements.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and integrate work into client systems, programs, and workflows.
- Effective communication across management and technical functions.
- Flexibility, diplomacy, and an entrepreneurial approach while working in a global client organization.
