Accounts Payable Specialist

Role Overview

Assets Group is looking for a driven accounting professional to manage end-to-end finance operations across multiple business units and markets in Doha, Qatar. This position is broader than routine bookkeeping and calls for someone who is confident handling substantial transaction volumes, working with senior stakeholders, and turning complex financial information into practical, decision-ready insights. Experience across different industries and geographies is valued more highly than narrow sector specialization.

Accounts Payable Ownership

• Take full responsibility for the accounts payable process from invoice receipt through verification, coding, approval coordination, payment execution, and reconciliation.
• Maintain vendor ledgers, investigate and resolve discrepancies carefully, and preserve strong working relationships with suppliers across regions.
• Process high-volume, high-value transactions accurately and on time, including commitments and payments reaching multi-million levels.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare, review, and assess financial statements, budgets, and cost reports, converting raw figures into useful recommendations for management.
• Study patterns in expenses, revenues, and financial commitments to support future planning and business decisions.
• Produce variance reports that compare budgeted and actual spend, and highlight risks as well as opportunities early.
• Present financial information in a structured, visual, and audit-ready format that is easy for stakeholders to act on.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as a dependable finance contact for internal teams and, where relevant, international business units.
• Explain findings, conclusions, and recommendations clearly to non-finance colleagues and senior leadership.
• Support departments and management with financial input for planning, budgeting, and investment-related discussions.

Systems and Process Management

• Build, maintain, and improve accounting and recordkeeping systems, with ERP usage at the center and SAP preferred.
• Keep financial data accurate and available in real time across reporting systems.
• Assist with organization-wide HSE and IMS-related initiatives when needed.

Knowledge, Experience, and Competencies

The role requires strong accounting fundamentals, including GAAP and general accounting principles that can be applied across industries. Candidates should have experience managing large financial volumes and should be able to independently handle the full accounts payable cycle. Strong ERP capability is important, and SAP experience is highly desirable. The ideal professional will also have excellent financial communication skills and the ability to turn numbers into clear business narratives.

Applicants should bring at least 5 years of overall accounting experience, including 3+ years in a relevant role. International or multi-market exposure is strongly preferred, and GCC experience will be considered an advantage but is not mandatory. A cross-industry background is welcome, as adaptability is preferred over specialization in one sector.

Education
