Role Overview

The Accounts Payable Coordinator will be tasked with managing and processing all invoices promptly. This role demands a meticulous approach to review, organize, and execute payments efficiently, ensuring smooth financial operations within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review invoices to control Cortland's expenditure and process weekly check payments.
  • Communicate status updates regarding payments to internal stakeholders to support operational efficiency.
  • Process weekly employee expense reports with accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Systematically organize vast quantities of paperwork into structured filing systems.
  • Audit payable batches ensuring correctness and maintain comprehensive payable records.
  • Maintain records of payment documents such as payment statements, receipts, utility payments, checks, and wire transfers.
  • Produce Accounts Payable progress reports and maintain detailed logs of all activities.
  • Prepare and issue 1099 forms for all relevant independent contractors.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and address any discrepancies through appropriate documentation.
  • Coordinate monthly bank reconciliations and manage related paperwork to support accounting processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline preferred, or a minimum of two years relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and analytical capabilities combined with effective problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented approach while managing multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with diverse colleagues.
