Role Overview
The Accounts Payable Analyst is integral in managing the comprehensive accounts payable operations. This role focuses on driving process advancements, addressing complex issues, and leveraging data analysis to optimize performance.
Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the analyst collaborates closely with Accounting, Planning, Procurement, and other teams to build strong supplier relationships and ensure precise vendor records.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee assigned vendor accounts by ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing, resolving issues, managing approvals, executing payments, and maintaining effective vendor communications in line with company policies and service standards.
- Conduct and review SAP system reports, such as GRIR and MRBR, to detect trends, exceptions, and areas for process improvements.
- Resolve complex accounts payable challenges by working with procurement, receiving, accounting, and IT teams.
- Assist in cash application tasks by ensuring vendor payments are posted promptly and correctly while investigating and correcting unapplied or misallocated payments.
- Support corporate travel and expense processing through Concur and company card programs by providing end-user assistance and resolving related issues.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and audit standards within accounts payable and expense functions.
- Contribute to month-end close activities including accrual analysis, reporting, reconciliations, and other financial support.
- Help train and mentor Accounts Payable Specialists to uphold quality and foster professional growth.
- Identify and suggest improvements to bolster efficiency, accuracy, and control within the accounts payable process.
- Support compliance efforts such as vendor record upkeep (e.g., W-9 forms), 1099 reporting, and responding to audit requests.
- Participate in special projects, system upgrades, and initiatives that enhance the procure-to-pay workflow.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in accounts payable or accounting roles.
- Proficiency with SAP or comparable ERP systems is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, especially for atypical issues.
- Advanced expertise in Excel and the ability to analyze complex data sets.
- Superior attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage relationships with stakeholders effectively.
- A proactive approach focused on continuous improvement and efficiency enhancement.
