About the opportunity
The Ministry of Education is looking for an Accounts Payable Advisor focused on supplier maintenance to join the Financial Payments & Collections team in Wellington. This permanent role supports the accurate and timely processing of the Ministry’s payment and collection activity, with a particular emphasis on keeping supplier records, purchase card tasks, and expense-related work running smoothly.
What you will do
You will manage supplier maintenance tasks within the accounts payable function, working to agreed deadlines and payment terms. The role also involves purchase card and expense processing, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures, and offering professional assistance, guidance, and issue resolution to both internal teams and external suppliers.

About you
The ideal candidate brings prior experience and strong communication skills, both written and verbal. You should be able to deliver accurate and timely supplier maintenance, purchase card, and expense processing, with a solid grasp of financial controls and an eye for process improvement. This role suits someone who is comfortable working in detail while still keeping the wider operational picture in mind.
You will also need the ability to build trusted working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, teammates, and colleagues in Finance. A willingness to work in line with the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct is essential.
