Role Overview
This position sits within the plant accounting team in Louisville, Kentucky. The role supports daily invoicing, general ledger reconciliation, month-end closing activities, reporting, operational metric tracking, and broader plant finance support.
Key Responsibilities
The accounting specialist will handle a broad mix of plant finance and accounting work, including reporting, reconciliations, payroll support, audit tasks, and cross-functional coordination.
- Prepare and share weekly scrap reports with management.
- Support accounts payable activities within the plant.
- Check non-production purchase orders for accurate general ledger coding.
- Run weekly labor analysis.
- Contribute to month-end close by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Coordinate with the quality team on vendor chargebacks.
- Assist with quarterly SOX-related requirements and data gathering.
- Prepare fixed assets for commissioning.
- Complete the weekly shipping audit.
- Create and issue debit notes, credit notes, and manual invoices when required.
- Review and correct accounts receivable price or quantity mismatches.
- Support monthly BOM audits.
- Take part in annual physical inventory counts.
- Process monthly pension reimbursements.
- Review the cycle count process and monitor its execution.
- Process weekly hourly payroll, including the payroll journal entry and payroll packet.
- Handle requests for manual payroll checks.
- Carry out other ad hoc tasks and reports as needed.
Working Environment
The plant accounting team offers exposure to a fast-moving setting where judgment, technical ability, and teamwork are important for completing work accurately and on time.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a four-year accounting degree or a closely related background, along with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience. Strong computer capability is expected, including comfort with Adobe PDF tools, Excel, AS400, and Hyperion HFM. The role also requires clear written and verbal communication and the ability to work effectively with both internal and external customers.
