Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for an experienced Accounting Manager to take ownership of financial accounting, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls for a Swiss legal entity within a multinational business. The position is based in Hamburg, Berlin, or Zurich and follows a full-time hybrid working setup.
The role needs someone who is comfortable working hands-on in accounting operations and can communicate fluently in both English and German. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate reporting, supporting audits, strengthening controls, and helping improve finance processes across the business.
Core objectives
- Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for local legal entities within required timelines.
- Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts, tax filings, and compliance submissions.
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation and coordinate with external tax advisers where needed.
- Make sure balance sheet reconciliations are completed correctly and within deadline.
- Handle VAT, payroll-related taxes, and other local tax responsibilities.
- Work closely with internal finance teams to keep accounting processes running smoothly.
- Support local leadership on finance-related initiatives and business projects.
- Serve as a main contact for auditors, tax advisers, and other professional partners.
Key responsibilities
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Check and approve balance sheet reconciliations and accounting entries.
- Prepare statutory financial statements in line with local accounting rules and group reporting standards.
- Ensure full compliance with VAT, corporate tax, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with broader finance teams to resolve accounting and operational challenges.
- Maintain, review, and improve accounting processes, controls, and procedures.
- Support finance transformation efforts and system enhancement projects.
- Ensure records are accurate, complete, and aligned with internal policies and external regulations.
About you
You should hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a similar field. The role requires at least four years of experience in a finance or accounting leadership position within an international organisation.
Experience with GAAP or IFRS is required. A solid grasp of statutory accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance is essential, and knowledge of Swiss accounting and tax rules would be an advantage.
The ideal candidate has worked in a multinational or matrix structure, brings advanced Excel and Microsoft Office capability, and demonstrates strong organisation, analysis, and problem-solving skills. You should also be an effective communicator who can build productive relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Fluency in both written and spoken English and German is mandatory. A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to perform well in a fast-moving environment are also important.
What’s on offer
- Hybrid working arrangement.
- Chance to join a growing international organisation.
- Exposure to senior stakeholders and regional finance leadership.
- Involvement in finance transformation and continuous improvement projects.
