Role overview
A leading national organisation in the sports sector is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join its finance team on a permanent, full-time basis in Dublin 9. The position suits someone with prior finance experience who can contribute to accurate, timely reporting and support a collaborative finance function.
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be involved in a broad mix of day-to-day transactional finance, reconciliations, month-end activity and internal reporting. The workplace is described as supportive and team-oriented.
Key duties
- Handle supplier invoices, staff expense claims and corporate card transactions, including matching and reconciliation.
- Carry out bank reconciliations and follow up on any differences or irregularities.
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts through journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Keep the general ledger up to date with accurate financial postings.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks.
- Prepare financial information and reports for internal teams and stakeholders.
- Work in line with internal controls, policies and established procedures.
- Coordinate with colleagues and external suppliers to resolve finance queries promptly.
- Provide wider support to the finance department whenever needed.
Candidate profile
- Prior experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar accounting role.
- Practical experience using AccountsIQ software.
- Solid knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and month-end routines.
- Exposure to management accounts preparation.
- Careful, accurate working style with strong attention to detail.
- Good command of Microsoft Excel and the broader MS Office suite.
- Well-developed organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work alone, juggle priorities and meet deadlines reliably.
- Must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.
Desirable points
- Background in a structured finance setting.
- Experience with internal controls, financial reporting and handling supplier queries.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday for 37.5 hours per week.
