Role overview

A leading national organisation in the sports sector is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join its finance team on a permanent, full-time basis in Dublin 9. The position suits someone with prior finance experience who can contribute to accurate, timely reporting and support a collaborative finance function.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be involved in a broad mix of day-to-day transactional finance, reconciliations, month-end activity and internal reporting. The workplace is described as supportive and team-oriented.

Key duties

  • Handle supplier invoices, staff expense claims and corporate card transactions, including matching and reconciliation.
  • Carry out bank reconciliations and follow up on any differences or irregularities.
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts through journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Keep the general ledger up to date with accurate financial postings.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks.
  • Prepare financial information and reports for internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Work in line with internal controls, policies and established procedures.
  • Coordinate with colleagues and external suppliers to resolve finance queries promptly.
  • Provide wider support to the finance department whenever needed.

Candidate profile

  • Prior experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar accounting role.
  • Practical experience using AccountsIQ software.
  • Solid knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and month-end routines.
  • Exposure to management accounts preparation.
  • Careful, accurate working style with strong attention to detail.
  • Good command of Microsoft Excel and the broader MS Office suite.
  • Well-developed organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work alone, juggle priorities and meet deadlines reliably.
  • Must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.

Desirable points

  • Background in a structured finance setting.
  • Experience with internal controls, financial reporting and handling supplier queries.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday for 37.5 hours per week.
