Role Overview
Our client, a reputable electrical contracting company based in Dublin, is looking for a skilled Accountant/Bookkeeper to lead their finance operations. This key role involves overseeing daily accounting activities across the primary business and several smaller investment entities. The role demands close collaboration with a small, cohesive office team to ensure seamless financial management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily functioning of the accounts department to maintain efficient financial workflows.
- Handle weekly and monthly payroll processes, including onboarding and offboarding employees, with PAYE and Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) reporting responsibilities.
- Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) filings through ROS, highlighting the importance of expertise with ROS.
- Manage RCT payments and comply with Revenue requirements consistently.
- Generate monthly management accounts to inform business decisions.
- Prepare schedules and documentation for year-end accounts and audits led by external auditors.
- Administer accounts payable, process supplier payments, and perform creditor reconciliations.
- Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Coordinate with external accountants, clients, and suppliers to maintain effective communication.
- Maintain the accounting system in an up-to-date, fully reconciled state.
- Submit returns to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) as required.
- Manage additional administrative duties such as fleet oversight and insurance renewals.
- Continuously seek ways to enhance financial procedures and internal controls.
Candidate Profile
- A minimum of five years' experience in a comprehensive finance role or equivalent proven accounting background.
- Proficient with Sage 50 Accounts and Sage Micropay software applications.
- Demonstrated experience using ROS for all Revenue-related communications and submissions.
- Strong grasp of payroll processes, VAT, PAYE, and RCT regulations.
- Experience in preparing management accounts and compiling year-end audit documentation.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivated with the capacity to prioritise responsibilities and take charge of the finance division.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling confident interaction with internal teams and external parties.
