About the Team

You'll join a motivated and independent team comprising both experienced Careem personnel and newer members focused on building Careem Shops. The team shares core values of ownership, ambition, and service to customers, partners, colleagues, and drivers.

Role Overview

The Account Manager for Groceries role requires a blend of negotiation skills, relationship building, strategic business insight, operations management, and problem-solving capabilities. This position involves managing and driving the success of Careem's grocery and supermarket partners across the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain enduring relationships as the primary liaison between Careem and major grocery chains and supermarkets.
  • Stimulate business growth by enhancing commercial and operational aspects, including catalog depth, pricing strategies, availability, and basket size, while onboarding new valuable grocery brands.
  • Utilize data analytics on metrics such as gross transaction value, order frequency, basket size, SKU availability, and conversion rates to guide decision-making and improve partner performance.
  • Conduct regular performance review meetings with partners to evaluate commercial results, operational status, and catalog quality, planning next steps accordingly.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams including Marketing, Supply Chain, Catalog, Customer Care, and Finance to align on growth targets.
  • Promote advertising and in-app promotional opportunities to partners, aiming to increase order volumes and basket values.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience with managing enterprise accounts and commercial roles, preferably in grocery, FMCG, retail, or e-commerce, with startup experience considered a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills marked by humility, approachability, and amiability.
  • Capability to initiate and sustain connections with prominent grocery and retail partners.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude, resilience to setbacks, and adaptability to evolving conditions.
  • Analytical intelligence to grasp complex commercial frameworks such as margin models, promotional tactics, and catalog management unique to grocery retail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and project management tools to implement best practices.
  • Self-driven with a high degree of ownership, able to independently prioritize and manage workload.
