Job description
About the organisation
Gateways Support Services works alongside children, young people, and adults with disability, together with their families, to strengthen independence, confidence, and connection. Its support offer includes early childhood intervention, respite, skill-building, independent living assistance, specialist care, and related services, all tailored to each person’s needs.
The team is made up of people with varied interests and backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to disability support and to improving daily life for the people they serve. The organisation’s values are Commitment, Opportunity, Respect, Excellence, and Empathy, and these guide its focus on safe, high-quality support that helps individuals thrive and enjoy a better quality of life.
Role overview
In this position, you will be based at the Norlane service and take on a leadership role responsible for participant wellbeing and quality of life. You will guide support staff, oversee everyday operations, and help ensure a safe and inclusive setting where residents are supported to live as independently as possible and feel connected to their community.
The role involves working with stakeholders, reviewing service performance, contributing to evaluations, coordinating day-to-day activities, promoting the service, supporting client decision-making, resolving concerns, and making sure policies are followed.
Key duties
You will also handle administrative and operational responsibilities such as maintaining records, managing maintenance follow-up, completing appraisals, preparing reports, monitoring safety compliance, supervising team members, and representing the organisation in a professional manner.
Hours
This is a part-time position with a total workload of 60.8 hours each fortnight.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will bring strong computer literacy, including confidence working across different systems, completing online training, and keeping participant information accurate in the client database. You should also have strong emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and the ability to reflect on your own practice while helping others do the same.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are important, including the ability to communicate clearly in spoken, written, and non-verbal forms with participants, families, and colleagues. You should have experience supervising and supporting staff in supported living or another person-centred environment, along with a collaborative and proactive leadership style that encourages team cohesion and better participant outcomes.
Strong planning and organisational ability, accountability, and a mindset of continuous improvement are also important. A Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related field is preferred.
