Role overview
An established and expanding Irish retail company is looking for an experienced Accessories Buyer to join its purchasing function in Dublin. This position suits a commercially minded buying professional who can shape product ranges, strengthen supplier partnerships, improve category performance, and spot new opportunities across a broad product mix. The role reports to the Head of Buying and offers the chance to contribute in a busy retail setting with a national footprint.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of assigned product categories and work toward sales, margin, and stock objectives.
- Create range plans that align with customer demand, market trends, and wider business goals.
- Maintain productive supplier partnerships and negotiate commercial terms, including pricing.
- Spot new product opportunities and support innovation within the category portfolio.
- Review sales, stock, and margin data to improve profitability and reduce commercial risk.
- Track market movements and competitor activity to keep the offer relevant and competitive.
- Oversee category budgets and contribute to pricing and promotional decisions.
- Work closely with merchandising, marketing, eCommerce, and store teams to support category growth.
Experience and skills
- A minimum of 5 years' buying experience in a busy retail or FMCG environment.
- Hands-on experience managing product categories and supplier relationships.
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales, margin, and wider commercial targets.
- Strong capability in negotiation and supplier management.
- Solid analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret sales and stock information.
- Confident user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central and Power BI would be beneficial.
- Previous work with seasonal product ranges is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness, communication ability, and stakeholder management skills.
