AB Seaman

About the Role

This position is located at Banana Island Resort Doha By Anantara and involves serving as an Able Seaman within the hospitality marine tourism sector. Key Responsibilities

• Report directly to the skipper and assist with all delegated duties.
• Maintain vigilant watch alongside the skipper during vessel trips to ensure safety and compliance with collision regulations.
• Participate actively in emergency procedures and drills, responding according to assigned roles.
• Report any unsafe activities observed to the skipper promptly.
• Assist in cleaning duties to guarantee the vessel is clean and ready for passengers at all times.
• Ensure sufficient cleaning supplies are maintained onboard.
• Clean the boat exterior after each trip and conduct thorough cleaning at the end of each shift.
• Keep luggage compartments tidy and clean continuously.
• Complete passenger manifests prior to departure, informing the skipper accordingly.
• Safeguard all lost and found items by handing them over to the skipper.
• Conduct proper handovers with the incoming shift detailing any encountered issues.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the uniform is clean and in excellent condition.
• Execute safe and proper berthing and un-berthing maneuvers during line handling.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a valid AB Seaman Certification, including CDC with AB (II/4) qualification or STCW certification, alongside a medical fitness report for sea work.
• Demonstrated experience as an Able Seaman, ideally within hospitality or marine tourism contexts.
• Basic knowledge of vessel navigation and seamanship principles.
• Strong communication abilities and teamwork orientation.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and effective emergency response measures.
• Capacity to perform physically strenuous tasks under varying weather conditions.
