Job description

Position Overview

Concorde Education is inviting experienced independent contractors to fill instructional roles focused on 3D design and digital modeling enrichment for K–12 students. These contract assignments involve on-site teaching primarily at partner schools, with work tailored to elementary, middle, and high school age groups. Sessions are conducted after school hours with typical weekly instructional commitments ranging from one to four hours over approximately ten-week programs. Compensation is generally $50 or more per completed hour of instruction, adjustable based on assignment specifics, contractor experience, and location.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead engaging and age-appropriate 3D design lessons, fostering project-based learning tailored to various grade levels.
  • Introduce students to core concepts of 3D modeling using platforms like Tinkercad, adapting activities to differing skill levels, site resources, and program goals.
  • Guide learners through creating digital models, prototypes, architectural designs, or other relevant projects.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment suitable for the age group.
  • Communicate effectively with Concorde and school personnel regarding needs or concerns related to the assignment.
  • Complete brief session completion reports following each instructional meeting.
  • Adhere strictly to site-specific regulations including safety, technology use, and student protection protocols.

Program Topics

  • Manipulating and resizing 3D shapes and objects.
  • Combining design elements through alignment, grouping, and other methods.
  • Employing measurement, scale, and precision in design tasks.
  • Applying design-thinking and prototyping fundamentals.
  • Constructing 3D models using tools such as Tinkercad or similar software.
  • Preparing digital creations for 3D printing when applicable.
  • Enhancing creativity, spatial reasoning, problem-solving, and iterative design skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 60 college credits when required by the assignment or site.
  • Proficiency with Tinkercad or equivalent 3D design, CAD, modeling, engineering, architecture, or digital fabrication tools.
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or facilitating activities with school-aged children.
  • Strong organizational skills, communication abilities, and classroom management experience.
  • Availability to meet the scheduling needs of the assignment and promptly communicate any scheduling conflicts.
  • Familiarity with Chromebooks, web-based applications, and educational technology.

Preferred Backgrounds

Ideal candidates may come from diverse educational or technical fields including educators, engineering or architecture students, designers, makers, STEM professionals, and fabrication experts.

Resources and Materials

Most assignments will utilize technology supplied by the host school such as Chromebooks and web-based 3D design platforms. Concorde may also provide curriculum outlines, lesson suggestions, and 3D printing resources. Contractors may supplement these with their own instructional materials if appropriate, safe, age-appropriate, lawful, and aligned with assignment guidelines. Pre-approval is required for any reimbursable expenses.

Compensation Details

The pay rate is negotiated per assignment, typically starting at $50 per completed instructional hour. Contractors are encouraged to propose desired rates considering all relevant effort including preparation, travel, and materials. Payments are usually processed by direct deposit around the 15th of the following month unless otherwise specified.

Application Process

Selected applicants may be invited to establish a contractor profile and complete onboarding procedures. Submission of applications or completion of onboarding does not guarantee assignment placement. Placement decisions are influenced by factors such as assignment suitability, agreed rates, required clearances including background checks where mandated, and final confirmation by Concorde Education.

Compliance and Equal Opportunity

Some assignments may require additional clearances such as fingerprinting or site-specific authorizations before starting work. Applicants will be requested to provide criminal history information only through lawful and compliant procedures. Concorde Education practices nondiscrimination and fosters respectful, inclusive environments for contractors and students alike.
