Team Overview

The Yard Operations team at IAA powers hundreds of live auctions worldwide every year. This dynamic team includes equipment inspectors, yard managers, operators, administrative staff, and customer service representatives, all working together to execute multimillion-dollar auctions successfully.

Position Summary

We are looking for a diligent Yard Attendant to join our team at our Buckhannon, WV facility. This role involves working outdoors, often in varying weather conditions, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and vehicle care.

Key Responsibilities

• Register and document vehicles as they are checked into the facility.
• Perform thorough cleaning and detailing of vehicles to improve auction appearance and value; training provided.
• Safely operate passenger vehicles to move them around the site and participate in live drive-through auctions.
• Secure and manage vehicle keys, license plates, and other related items, ensuring proper storage and tracking at the branch.
• Provide directional assistance and information to visitors, referring them to appropriate contacts as needed.
• Receive on-the-job training in operating forklifts and loaders.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be qualified to operate motor vehicles relevant to job duties.
• Physical ability to handle security, maintenance, and safety procedures, including the appropriate use of personal protective gear (gloves, safety glasses).
• Ability to identify and avoid unsafe situations, responding appropriately to incidents.
• Comply with industry regulations concerning hazardous material handling.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull weights up to 50 lbs; occasionally over 100 lbs; consistently up to 20 lbs.
• Physically able to stand, walk, sit, reach, handle objects, and perform movements such as bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and crawling.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and maintaining alertness around heavy machinery and vehicles.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with some hands-on automotive repair knowledge or experience working in rental or construction industries are well-suited to this role.
