Position Overview
The Vice President of Commercial at Ursus, Inc., based in Bolton, Ontario, is a full-time executive role focused on steering profitable expansion through strategic commercial initiatives. This position handles the oversight of sales, marketing, customer experience, pricing, and key account management, ensuring these functions align with overarching business goals and foster long-term value creation. The role collaborates closely with Operations, Finance, and the executive leadership to convert market potentials into sustainable revenue and margin growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement the company's commercial strategy in line with corporate goals, growth objectives, and market stance.
- Identify and prioritize new market segments, service lines, geographic areas, and strategic partnerships within industrial and commercial services.
- Lead the development of go-to-market plans for new service offerings, contracting models, and bundled solutions.
- Manage the sales organization including field sales, business development, account management, and estimating teams.
- Set sales targets, pipeline expectations, and enforce forecasting and performance management discipline.
- Drive growth in enterprise, multi-site, and long-term contracts with key industrial and commercial customers.
- Direct pricing strategy, contractual structures, and margin optimization in cooperation with Finance and Operations.
- Maintain rigorous bid review, contract risk evaluation, and application of value-based pricing practices.
- Balance competitiveness and profitability across various service lines.
- Lead marketing strategies encompassing brand positioning, value proposition creation, digital presence, and customer engagement.
- Ensure consistent brand messaging reflecting operational excellence, safety standards, and reliability.
- Promote a customer-centric culture prioritizing retention, satisfaction, and customer lifetime value.
- Supervise key account strategies and executive-level customer relations.
- Utilize customer insights and feedback to enhance service performance and commercial outcomes.
- Participate as an executive team member contributing to company-wide strategy and decisions.
- Coordinate with Operations to synchronize sales commitments with service delivery capabilities.
- Recruit and lead an effective commercial leadership team.
Required Qualifications
- Over a decade of progressive leadership experience in commercial, sales, or business development roles.
- Proven track record within industrial services, contracting, facilities services, engineering, construction, or comparable B2B service sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of contract-based revenue structures, pricing policies, and margin management.
- Successful history of stimulating growth in complex, operationally demanding businesses.
- Exceptional capabilities in leadership, negotiation, and managing stakeholder relationships.
