Traveling Pipe Layer

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Traveling Pipe Layers willing to work across the Southeastern United States. Positions come with paid per diem and involve installing pipelines such as storm drains, sanitary sewers, and waterlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and lay pipe accurately by grading and leveling trench foundations, aligning and positioning pipes, and verifying slopes using laser or leveling tools to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Ensure proper trench excavation, shoring, bedding, and backfilling to maintain pipe integrity and airtight installation.
• Proficiently set up and operate lasers, transits, grade rods, and line levels.
• Possess in-depth understanding of various soil types and appropriate shoring techniques following OSHA trenching and sloping regulations.
• Interpret survey stakes including cuts, fills, and elevations for accurate pipe layout.
• Work with blueprints to plot pipe routes in coordination with the Foreman.
• Set up pipe lasers within manholes to establish lines and enter proper slopes.
• Read and interpret grade rods and understand measurements to the tenths.
• Maintain pace and efficiency of the crew and swiftly devise practical solutions to on-site challenges.
• Adapt to different soil and environmental conditions to install quality pipe work without reworks.
• Install oversized structures when required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 24 months of construction experience; preference for 4+ years in heavy civil construction as a Pipe Layer.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Willingness to participate in pre-employment and random drug screening.
• Undergo background checks as part of the hiring process.
• Strong mathematical and logical reasoning abilities applied on the job.
