Training Programme Director - Imaging Academy

Role Overview

This position offers a unique chance to contribute to the advancement of the East of England's Virtual Imaging Academy by developing educational content, courses, and assessment tools in imaging.

The Training Programme Director (TPD) is a Sub-Speciality Training Lead and a member of the Speciality Training Committee (STC). Reporting to the Postgraduate Dean, the TPD ensures specialty training delivery aligns with the GMC and Royal College of Radiologists standards. Flexibility in meeting the role's varying demands is expected.

The post holds professional and managerial accountability to the East of England Regional Postgraduate Dean.

Key Duties

• Collaborate with Academy faculty to pinpoint learning gaps in imaging across the East of England and integrate effective solutions using the Academy's platforms.
• Contribute top-quality teaching cases to the iCode and DetectedX platforms for integration into learning modules and assessments.
• Evaluate teaching cases submitted by PACS users regionally and select exemplary cases for formal modules and assessments.
• Design educational modules and assessments tailored to a broad range of learners including radiology trainees, radiographers, sonographers, junior doctors, medical students, and healthcare professionals requiring imaging education.
• Partner with the NHS England WTE regional team and Academy leadership to advance the Academy's reach within regional NHS Trusts.
• Implement and expand dissemination of teaching and assessment initiatives throughout East of England.
• Adopt and champion simulation methodologies to enhance imaging and procedural training regionally.

NHS England is responsible for various statutory and regulatory functions aimed at supporting the NHS in delivering top-tier care and undertaking centralized activities.

Staff within NHS England come from diverse backgrounds including clinical, operational, technical, educational, and commercial sectors, contributing to the design and delivery of high-quality NHS services.

Following the announcement in March 2025, NHS England will integrate functions with the Department of Health and Social Care, leading to complete incorporation.

Existing NHS employees selected for this role will undergo an Inter Authority Transfer via the Electronic Staff Record system to facilitate onboarding, though opting out is permitted.

Employees with office-based contracts are expected to spend a minimum of 40% time working on-site.
