Role summary
The Settlement Specialist is responsible for ensuring commodity purchase and sales transactions are entered accurately and on time, along with all related amendments in SAP. The role also covers creation and application of load orders for rail, truck, and barge movements, ticket processing in SAP, execution of purchase and sales activity, freight reconciliations, quality claim resolution, and preparation of payment proposals and daily operational reports.
Core responsibilities
- Record purchase and sales contracts and any updates in SAP with a high degree of accuracy.
- Create and process load orders in SAP for rail, truck, and barge shipments.
- Support execution of purchase and sales transactions.
- Prepare and apply tickets within SAP.
- Manage freight-related adjustments and corrections.
- Maintain and update the billing string as required.
- Issue invoices, credit notes, and debit notes.
- Respond to customer concerns connected to product quality, transport issues, and incorrect material.
- Handle claim settlement activities.
- Compile and distribute daily operational reports, including plant reports, missed pickup reports, detention reports, cancellation reports, and contract balance reports, within required timelines.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders on routine operational matters.
- Communicate clearly on day-to-day operational updates and issues with all relevant stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively to meet individual and team targets.
- Provide daily status updates and escalate issues to the manager for quick resolution.
- Remain available to work US shifts when business needs require it.
Performance measures
- Speed of document delivery and collection turnaround.
- Accuracy across the relevant process flow.
Required background
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 to 7 years of experience in international agri-commodity execution or finance is preferred.
- Strong written and spoken English skills; knowledge of an additional foreign language is considered an advantage.
- Comfortable using SAP, analytical tools, and MS Office applications.
