Toolmaker / Die Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair tooling failures within press machinery to reduce downtime efficiently.
• Execute planned preventative maintenance on dies and tooling to ensure equipment reliability and optimize production flow.
• Quickly identify and address quality concerns during pressing operations to maintain high product standards and decrease waste.
• Perform welding tasks as necessary, utilizing TIG, MIG, and ARC methods.
• Carry out general bench fitting, repairs, and assembly duties to support tooling upkeep and production needs.
• Keep detailed daily maintenance documentation while adhering strictly to standard operating procedures.
• Analyze root causes of tooling and production issues, aiding in corrective measures and ongoing improvement efforts.
• Assist with tooling commissioning, modify dies, and implement engineering changes aimed at enhancing tool performance and meeting production goals.

Candidate Profile

• Completed an apprenticeship relevant to Die Maintenance or Toolmaking.
• Holds an ONC, BTEC, or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Maintenance or an Engineering-related field.
• Experience in preventative die and tooling maintenance.
• Familiarity with press machines, machining processes, and welding techniques.
• Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
