Role Summary
The Transformer Testing Engineer is tasked with executing various testing procedures—factory, site, pre-commissioning, and commissioning—on power and distribution transformers. This role ensures that all tests conform to IEC, IEEE, IS standards, project requirements, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct testing and commissioning at site locations.
- Review and validate OEM, FAT, and SAT reports for accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with construction, protection, and commissioning teams to coordinate testing activities.
- Generate comprehensive test reports, prepare checklists, and maintain as-built documentation.
- Uphold health, safety, and environmental standards throughout testing operations.
- Engage with clients and consultants during inspections and approvals to ensure alignment.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering (BE, BTech, or equivalent).
- Between 5 to 10 years of experience in transformer testing and commissioning.
- Practical hands-on exposure to EHV, HV, and MV transformers.
- Thorough understanding of IEC 60076 and IEEE transformer standards.
- Experience with substation projects, preferably GIS or AIS types.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency with transformer testing instruments and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to interpret test results and conduct fault analysis effectively.
- Competence in site coordination and meticulous document control.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with OEMs and client teams.
