Job description
Overview
The Temple Facilities Manager will oversee the comprehensive management, maintenance, and operation of the temple and its associated buildings covering about 70,000 square feet. This role requires managing budgets, labor costs, projects, and vendor relationships while ensuring facilities meet established quality and operational standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee budgets including labor costs for employees, contractors, and third parties.
- Create and execute detailed annual plans controlling operational and project expenditures including maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, audiovisual and computer systems.
- Maintain the temple complex and related buildings such as patron housing, visitor centers, the temple president's residence, missionary training centers, and area offices.
- Uphold established facility standards during peak and off-peak periods.
- Provide ongoing updates on project progress, quality assurance, issue resolution, and procurement of required materials and equipment.
- Manage finalization processes for projects including documentation, archiving, warranty management, and formal approvals to ensure compliance with design and standards.
- Monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion within approved timeframes.
- Implement and evaluate temple maintenance guides and test new maintenance methods and technologies.
- Lead and supervise a team of 10 to 20 employees including multiple sub-supervisors.
- Collaborate with human resources to manage hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, and other personnel-related decisions within the reporting line.
- Engage with temple president, priesthood leaders, supervisors, local authorities, architects, contractors, and community leaders as needed.
- Foster team growth and skills by facilitating on-site and remote training, coaching and mentoring.
- Manage expectations of approximately three to four stakeholders effectively.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Must hold a valid Temple Recommend and maintain worthiness to possess it.
- Hold a relevant university degree (post-secondary) in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Industry, Project Management, or a related discipline with 6 to 7 years of relevant facilities management experience or an equivalent blend of education, certifications and experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with strong team management capabilities.
- Proven skills in budgeting, financial oversight, and large facility project management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of facility systems including boilers, chillers, electrical controls, audiovisual, electrical distribution, and plumbing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications with excellent written and verbal communication proficiency.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the local language and where necessary in English.
- Capability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions and support security and safety protocols.
- Physically able to endure periods of sitting and working extensively on computers.
