About the Role
Care on Call is dedicated to providing compassionate community support, emphasizing personalized care for both clients and staff. We currently have an opening for a support worker to assist a client living with multiple sclerosis based in Lower Hutt, requiring daily life support.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing challenging behaviours with understanding and patience.
- Using hoists safely and effectively to assist client mobility.
- Supporting clients who use power chairs.
- Collaborating closely with the care team for coordinated support.
- Providing full personal care including showering and prolonged bowel stimulation management.
- Preparing meals competently.
- Assisting with shopping and pharmacy pick-ups.
- Following instructions accurately and comprehending directions well.
Requirements
- Consistent long-term availability to ensure client continuity.
- Current clean full driver’s licence.
- Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Health qualifications at Level 2, 3, or 4 (applications without these qualifications may not be considered).
- Previous experience as a caregiver or support worker with similar clients.
- Reliable, punctual, honest, and caring demeanor.
Additional Information
Comprehensive training and orientation will be provided by the existing care team to ensure a smooth transition. The role requires availability for morning, late afternoon, and evening shifts.
