About the Role
Newtone Consulting is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing support of mission-critical database systems. This position requires close collaboration with solution architects, project leaders, and development teams to guarantee optimal database performance, availability, and security across Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB platforms.
Main Responsibilities
- Establish baseline performance metrics and execute rigorous workload and stress tests on database systems, including replication, log shipping, scalability, and backup and recovery mechanisms.
- Conduct sizing, capacity planning, and ongoing performance optimization to ensure databases operate efficiently and scale as needed.
- Administer user accounts, manage permissions, and facilitate secure data distribution.
- Oversee, monitor, and continually enhance environments running on Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB.
- Evaluate new releases, plan and execute upgrades and patches in line with established maintenance schedules.
- Design and upkeep storage systems, tables, indexes, and views to support business and application requirements.
- Formulate industry-standard operational documentation, policies, and processes for database administration.
- Monitor and ensure that database service levels align with organizational requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a diploma or higher in Computer Science, IT, or a closely related technical field.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in database administration with both Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of database design principles and working knowledge of relational as well as distributed database systems.
- Direct experience supporting large-scale, data-driven and high-transaction-volume systems.
- Familiarity with high-availability solutions such as clustering, replication, and related architectures.
