Software Engineering Manager - Google Play Apps Experience

About the Role

The Software Engineering Manager role at Google involves technical leadership combined with managing a team of engineers to drive the development of impactful software projects. Responsibilities

• Establish and communicate team priorities aligned with organizational objectives.
• Coordinate strategy, workflows and decisions among diverse teams.
• Set clear performance and development expectations for team members, holding regular feedback sessions.
• Develop and update mid-term technical roadmaps that anticipate future demands and infrastructure.
• Lead system design vetting across your area and author code to address complex technical challenges.
• Perform code reviews to uphold best practices such as style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years in software development, including 3 years in Android app development.
• At least 3 years in technical leadership and 2 years in people or team management roles.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Preferred: Experience working within complex, matrixed organizations for at least 3 years.
