Role Overview
This opportunity focuses on pioneering the development of embedded applications for heavy civil construction machinery. The position directly affects operator efficiency and safety, shaping future advances in digital construction technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of robust, maintainable backend software for embedded Linux platforms, primarily using Rust.
- Architect and critically assess advanced software frameworks to maximize reusability and strengthen system reliability.
- Gain expertise in low-level communication protocols to handle real-time sensor data from equipment like bulldozers, excavators, and pavers.
- Partner with global engineering units to translate complex business requirements into scalable and effective technical solutions.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient systems programming experience using C, C++, or Rust on Linux or equivalent embedded platforms.
- Comprehensive grasp of software engineering principles, including design patterns like SOLID and development best practices.
- Experienced with version control tools such as Git and expertise in troubleshooting complex software stacks.
- Strong communication skills capable of articulating technical information to international teams effectively.
Desirable Skills
- Hands-on embedded Linux development or familiarity with emerging system languages like Zig.
- Understanding of networking protocols such as CAN, TCP, HTTP, and WebSocket.
- Academic background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
Working Details
This role is based in Christchurch, New Zealand and requires onsite attendance with no travel obligations.
