Site Gate Person

Role Overview

The Site Gate Person position supports daily site operations for the Omexom Project at Fort Augustus Substation, Auchteraw Road, Fort Augustus, reporting directly to the Site Manager. The project duration extends through 2032 with possibilities for continued engagement on future Omexom projects. This full-time role operates Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with occasional compensated overtime and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for all personnel and vehicles entering or exiting the site.
• Maintain accurate logs of vehicle and pedestrian movements on site.
• Welcome visitors and guide them to designated parking zones.
• Participate in daily site meetings with the Site Manager to stay informed about upcoming visitors and deliveries.
• Ensure vehicles leaving the site are clean and safe, preventing materials from being transported onto public roads, and report any violations for remediation.
• Coordinate with the Store Coordinator and Site Manager to manage deliveries and direct offloading locations.
• Ensure deliveries do not block public highways.
• Collect delivery documentation and submit it daily to the Site Administrator.
• Inspect and confirm site entrance signage is installed and visible each day.
• Perform daily inspections of gates and barriers, reporting any defects promptly.
• Safeguard gate locks, keys, and entrance codes to prevent unauthorized access.
• Understand and comply with Safe Systems of Work protocols.

Working Relationships

• Collaborate closely with the Site Manager, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and third-party workforces affected by ongoing work.
• Engage with the project safety and design teams and client-appointed representatives.
• Serve as a point of contact for all site visitors.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is physically fit to perform duties in variable terrain and weather, articulate and presentable—as Omexom-branded attire is required on site—decisive in resolving unexpected issues in cooperation with the Site Manager, and a committed team player eager for skill development through onsite and formal training.

Experience and Competencies

• Previous experience in a gate person or similar role is advantageous.
• Familiarity with live substation environments is a plus.
• Competence using hand power tools.
• Strong reading, writing, and instruction-following abilities.
• Safety-consciousness in construction site settings.
• Possession of a valid CSCS card or equivalent.
• Must hold a driving license (essential).
