Overview
We are seeking a Site Engineer to oversee all phases of specific projects to successful completion. This role requires coordination across various teams and external entities to ensure project execution aligns with plans, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with internal teams including planning, construction, design, commercial, and HSQE departments to acquire needed information for your duties.
- Engage with third parties such as Local Authorities, Utility Providers, and Statutory Authorities like An Garda Siochana.
- Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments pertinent to project activities.
- Develop project work schedules and generate tailored Traffic Management Plans.
- Conduct post-construction assessments to support future project planning.
- Assist in budgeting efforts for projects and manage Road Opening License administration.
- Ensure comprehension and promotion of the Company's Safety Statement among team members under your supervision.
- Maintain broad understanding of project scope and report any health and safety concerns related to underground services or ground conditions to the Contracts Manager.
- Observe and report unsafe situations to management; perform work safely using required protective gear, especially near public roads or water.
- Maintain records of underground services and ensure appropriate site signage is in place during construction.
- Verify design calculations and temporary works certificates for bespoke scaffolds and falsework independently.
- Act as Project Manager/Site Agent interim for Health, Safety, and Environmental issues when they are absent.
- Be well-versed in company HSQE management systems and current statutory health and safety legislation or know how to access relevant information.
- Understand contractual forms, implications of variations/changes on timeline and budget.
- Review and comprehend Specifications, Drawings, and other Contract Documents thoroughly.
- Conduct site setting out, levelling, and surveying per specifications and drawings.
- Prepare labor, plant, and material reports, as-built drawings, technical reports, and maintain site diaries.
- Coordinate material purchasing requisitions and ensure purchase orders meet specified requirements.
- Collaborate with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and project teams.
- Oversee daily site operations including supervising workforce and subcontractors.
- Plan work sequencing and organize site facilities efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Liaise with Project Manager/planner regarding programmes and constraints.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations.
- Resolve technical matters with employer representatives, suppliers, subcontractors, and authorities.
- Implement quality control measures following company procedures, method statements, quality plans, and inspection/test plans.
- Inspect materials and ongoing work for compliance with set standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering to demonstrate necessary competence.
- 3 to 5 years experience working as a Site Engineer on civil engineering projects.
- Strong proficiency in setting out and site coordination.
- Preferably completed modules in Water/Wastewater engineering.
- Membership of a relevant Professional Institution.
- Holder of a valid full clean Irish or EU driver's licence.
- Eligibility to work legally in Ireland, such as Stamp 4 or Critical Skills Permit.
