Role Summary
The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for evolving the Core Platform to support n8n’s next growth phase. This involves enhancing scalability, reliability, security, and flexibility to handle increasing customer demands and technical complexity. This foundational platform underpins all features, including AI and agent capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate the Core Platform product strategy and roadmap in coordination with Engineering and Product leadership.
- Prioritize investments considering customer impact, enterprise needs, risks, and engineering efforts; balance short-term requests with long-term architectural planning.
- Lead product discovery on complex technical challenges through engagement with enterprise customers and internal teams.
- Drive improvements in scalability and reliability of the execution engine, including worker pools and distributed execution systems.
- Enhance the stability of triggers and execution functionality across diverse deployment environments, including cloud and self-hosted enterprise setups.
- Develop secure, flexible methodologies for executing code on the platform.
- Plan and oversee major platform releases, managing migration strategies, stakeholder communication, and risk mitigation.
- Define clear success metrics and hold the team accountable for achieving outcomes beyond mere delivery.
- Serve as a liaison between the Core team and other departments like Product, Sales, Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, and Support to convey platform trade-offs effectively.
- Actively identify cross-team platform needs and address them preemptively to avoid blockers.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of product management experience, including 2-3 years focused on platform, infrastructure, developer-facing, backend, or API products.
- Strong technical understanding of distributed systems, execution models, and trade-offs involving reliability and scalability.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical projects with significant delivery risks, such as platform migrations or disruptive changes.
- Comfortable making prioritization decisions amidst ambiguity, linking foundational tasks and technical debt to customer and commercial benefits.
- Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership and initiative.
- Excellent communication skills that translate technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.
- Familiarity with enterprise software environments, especially self-hosted, air-gapped, or restricted deployment models.
- Preferred but not required: Coding or prototyping capability, experience in B2B SaaS security and compliance, collaboration with security teams, knowledge of workflow automation or open-source communities, and strong writing skills for clarity and alignment.
