Vacancy Overview
We are recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer to join a leading Oil & Gas company in Qatar on a residential contract basis. This role is stationed onshore with occasional offshore site visits as part of the Offshore Operations Department supporting Operations and Readiness.
Primary Purpose
The role involves providing expert technical services in oil and gas processing and production facilities. The Senior Process Engineer will support the operations team by ensuring engineering work achieves high technical quality and integrity while meeting project goals related to safety, schedule, cost, and operational maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver quality process engineering input throughout all project phases.
- Review and verify technical designs and simulation data, ensuring compliance with standards and operational, maintenance, asset integrity, and HSE requirements.
- Confirm scope completeness, drawing on practical experience with rotating and static equipment, pumps, compressors, reliability, APMS, piping, utilities, and mechanical modifications.
- Coordinate with multiple departments including Operations, Maintenance, Asset Integrity, Safety, Fire Engineering, and ICT to meet project demands and provide ongoing assurance.
- Identify hazards early in engineering stages through various safety reviews and audits, assist with commissioning and startup activities, and support operations and maintenance teams across project milestones.
- Liaise effectively with Project Execution, Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance during FEED and EPIC stages to ensure alignment of requirements.
- Resolve technical and warranty issues during pre-commissioning and commissioning to guarantee successful project handover.
- Support leadership by integrating environmental, process, and safety standards, and assist in incident investigations.
- Manage shutdown planning and interface with multiple projects to ensure smooth execution of SIMOPS activities.
- Contribute to the development and mentoring of Qatari national teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering; Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is a plus.
- At least 15 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 10 years within an internationally recognized oil and gas operator.
- Mandatory experience in operations and maintenance.
- Proficiency with international engineering standards including Shell DEPs and Qatar Petroleum standards.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience using process simulation tools such as HYSIS, ASPEN, and FLARENET.
- Experience with international consulting firms, EPIC contractors, and involvement in project pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and handover stages is advantageous.
- Robust technical expertise in process engineering discipline complemented by excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
