Overview

This permanent full-time role based in Cork, Ireland, is responsible for managing the entire Irish payroll process. The Senior Manager ensures payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner, complying with Irish Revenue regulations and employment laws. They lead payroll teams, oversee governance, technology, vendor relations, and focus on client payroll implementations and transitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee complete payroll processing for Irish employees on various pay cycles ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage new client payroll implementations and transitions, including project management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Irish Revenue PAYE Modernisation, PRSI, USC, and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Stay current with Irish payroll legislation and implement necessary updates promptly.
  • Lead and coordinate payroll audits and compliance reviews.
  • Guide and develop a team of payroll professionals fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Define and monitor team objectives, key performance indicators, and standards.
  • Handle staffing plans, succession, and skills development.
  • Maintain robust payroll controls and governance structures.
  • Ensure accuracy in payroll reconciliations including general ledger and statutory liabilities.
  • Identify and mitigate payroll risks, enforcing escalation and resolution procedures.
  • Drive enhancements, upgrades, and integrations within payroll technology systems.
  • Implement automation and standardization strategies to boost efficiency and precision.
  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and regulatory entities.
  • Monitor vendor performance agreeing with service-level agreements.
  • Produce payroll reports, dashboards, and insights for senior leadership.
  • Support financial activities related to payroll such as budgeting and forecasting.
  • Participate in scoping new business opportunities including proposal development and presentations.

Required Qualifications and Expertise

  • Over six years of experience working with Irish payroll including leadership roles.
  • Certification such as IPASS (Irish Payroll Association) or an equivalent credential.
  • Comprehensive expertise in Irish payroll laws including PAYE Modernisation, PRSI, USC, BIK, and pensions.
  • Experience managing payroll operations within corporate or shared services settings.
  • Track record in leading payroll implementations and transitions successfully from initiation to completion.
  • Strong technical knowledge of payroll systems and their integrations.
  • Proven project management capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Effective client service and team leadership abilities.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Experience in global or multi-country payroll environments is advantageous.
