Senior Fiber Optics Manufacturing Engineer

Position Overview

Our client, a global multinational corporation specializing in photonics, precision optics, and cutting-edge manufacturing solutions for various advanced technology sectors, is seeking a Senior Fiber Optics Manufacturing Engineer. The company is based in the Western region of Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and refine manufacturing workflows for fiber optic termination, polishing, and precision optical assemblies to ensure superior quality and production yield.
• Lead initiatives for developing, transitioning, and scaling up new production lines and processes for optical fiber assemblies and other precision optical products.
• Establish and maintain ultra-clean manufacturing procedures and contamination control protocols suitable for semiconductor cleanroom settings.
• Implement continuous improvement strategies focused on increasing productivity, yield, quality, reducing cycle time, and lowering manufacturing costs utilizing Lean Six Sigma techniques.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for seamless transfer from development phases to mass manufacturing.
• Manage process validations, tooling design, and conduct risk assessments like Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to ensure process reliability.
• Apply statistical methods and structured problem-solving approaches such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), 8D problem solving, and Root Cause Analysis to resolve manufacturing challenges and boost capabilities.
• Collaborate across departments including Research & Development, Production, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to execute projects on time while meeting benchmarks for quality, cost, and delivery.
• Participate in technical conversations with customers during process reviews and handle issue escalations with proactive communication and technical resolution.
• Promote strict adherence to safety protocols inclusive of laser safety regulations and cleanroom best practices to uphold a safe working environment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent fields.
• At least three years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering related to optics, photonics, laser technology, semiconductor fabrication, or precision manufacturing industries.
• Proven expertise in process development, validation, New Product Introduction, and ramp-up for manufacturing scale.
• Strong command of continuous improvement frameworks and statistical tools such as DOE, SPC, FMEA, 8D methodologies, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Experience operating within cleanroom or environments requiring high precision manufacturing.
• Keen knowledge of optical fiber assembly techniques, laser systems, optical alignment, and contamination control is advantageous.
