Senior Accountant - Contracting

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Accountant, preferably Arabic-speaking with proficiency in English, to manage the financial and accounting operations for construction projects and the company at large. This key role includes ensuring precise financial reporting, overseeing project costs, budgeting, cash flow, statutory compliance, and effective control over transactions related to construction activities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records complying with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Perform reconciliations of the general ledger, and ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Support both internal and external audit processes.
• Track and monitor project costs, budgets, commitments, and expenditures.
• Manage job costing and cost allocation for active construction projects and report findings to the General Manager.
• Generate reports on project profitability and cost variances.
• Reconcile project expenses against Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and budgets; manage retention and advance payments.
• Review subcontractor invoices, supplier payments, and project-related expenses to ensure accuracy and proper accounting treatment, including retention, advances, and progress billings.
• Assist in the preparation of annual and project-specific budgets.
• Monitor project cash flows and forecast funding needs.
• Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective measures.
• Support management efforts to control project costs and enhance profitability.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Priority given to Arabic candidates with English proficiency.
• Immediate availability is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as ACCA or CMA are advantageous.
• 5 to 10 years of accounting experience, ideally in the construction sector.
• At least 5 years of relevant UAE experience in a contracting setting.
