Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

This role involves managing the self checkout section of the store, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, promoting company programs, assisting customers, and ensuring equipment is properly handled.

Main Responsibilities

• Keep the self checkout areas clean, safe, and organized by removing debris, spills, and unnecessary items.
• Encourage participation in company initiatives such as credit card services, product protection, and charitable activities when appropriate.
• Assist customers in using self checkout stations, monitor their activity, and handle necessary system checks. Provide clear, friendly explanations for any interventions and escalate any cash or technical concerns to management.
• Respond promptly and accurately to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts and document these occurrences as per policy.
• Ensure Scan & Go devices are returned to their proper storage locations after use.
• Be open to flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays to maintain smooth store operations.

Challenges in the Role

• Manage high workloads efficiently during busy periods and overnight shifts while maintaining focus and energy.
• Complete restocking and store recovery tasks with accuracy and timeliness.
• Perform physically demanding duties such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting inventory or equipment up to 20 lbs regularly, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Carry out repetitive organizing and stocking tasks with attention to detail to sustain store standards.

Compensation

The starting wage for this position is $15.50 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
