About the Role and Company

Join ALS and become part of a global team dedicated to applying scientific testing and data analytics to create a healthier future. We are inviting expressions of interest to expand our talent pool at our Geochemistry site located in Pooraka, South Australia.

As a Sample Preparer, you will contribute by preparing mineral samples for chemical analysis in a fast-moving, client-driven setting supporting mining and exploration sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate sample preparation machinery such as crushers, splitters, pulverizers following established Quality Work Instructions (QWIs).
  • Sort incoming samples according to client submissions, recording any inconsistencies on sample sorting sheets.
  • Label samples with barcodes and record sample weights using the Gems interface.
  • Move samples to drying racks accurately and on time.
  • Process samples by crushing, splitting, sieving, and drying them to required specifications.
  • Use pulverising mills to attain target sample consistency.
  • Proactively notify supervisors about operational issues such as machinery malfunctions or problematic sample conditions.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment as instructed and maintain organized, clean workspaces.

Candidate Requirements

  • Availability to work full-time on a rotating roster, either from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm or 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Physical fitness and capability to perform repetitive manual tasks in a dusty environment.
  • Ability to wear a half-face respirator, requiring a clean-shaven face to ensure proper fit and safety.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to adhere closely to processes and procedures.
  • Willingness to contribute as part of a high-performance team prioritizing quality and safety.
  • Previous experience in production or physically demanding roles is highly advantageous.

Additional Information

This role is classified as casual but requires the ability to work full-time hours within the specified shifts. Comprehensive training is provided to support career progression within sample preparation or administrative duties.
