Role Overview
The Validation Trainer is dedicated to building the competence and confidence of the autonomous vehicle (AV) validation driver team. This specialized role within the validation operations involves creating and delivering comprehensive training programs to ensure drivers can safely and accurately operate AVs on public roads, execute testing missions properly, and handle safety-critical scenarios effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement training modules addressing vehicle operation, AV system monitoring, disengagement protocols, data logging, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Develop structured onboarding processes combining classroom, simulator, and practical on-road training for new validation drivers.
- Conduct periodic refresher and recertification sessions to align with system updates, new routes, and evolving partner requirements.
- Create and update training materials such as SOPs, evaluation criteria, route guides, and tutorials for onboard tools.
- Accompany drivers during live test routes to evaluate their situational awareness, driving standards, and compliance with SOPs in real conditions.
- Provide immediate coaching and detailed feedback post-training sessions to enhance driver skill development.
- Manage driver certification assessments and maintain accurate records of certification status.
- Assist the Validation Team Lead in onboarding and assessing drivers for independent operations.
- Analyze driver performance data and quality audits to identify skill gaps and training improvement opportunities using Kaizen methodology.
- Collaborate with Training and AV Safety Managers to incorporate safety protocols into all training initiatives.
- Keep training content updated following software, route, or SOP changes.
- Maintain thorough, audit-ready training and certification documentation meeting Moove AV, partner, and regulatory standards.
- Report driver performance or compliance concerns to management as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between 3 to 5 years’ experience in autonomous vehicle testing, professional driving, or related operational roles.
- Previous exposure to training, coaching, or mentoring is highly preferable.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AV validation operations including disengagement procedures and data logging.
- Competent in delivering training both in classroom contexts and on live roads.
- Strong observational and feedback skills with the ability to evaluate driver behavior accurately and constructively.
- Demonstrates calmness and professionalism under pressure and prioritizes safety at all times.
- Holds a valid UAE driving license with at least 3 years of clean driving experience.
- Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or related technical field preferred; otherwise, equivalent technical qualifications coupled with relevant AV/automotive experience will be considered.
Success Indicators
- All validation drivers fully certified and ready for independent operations.
- Recertification and refresher trainings completed on schedule without compliance lapses.
- Continuous improvement in driver disengagement handling and data accuracy.
- Training content remains aligned with operational real-time requirements.
