Retail Store Cashier

About the Position

Join our retail team as a Cashier, serving as the primary point of contact at the checkout zone. You will be responsible for welcoming customers, processing their payments, managing returns and exchanges, and maintaining a smooth, pleasant checkout experience. Your role plays a vital part in enhancing customer satisfaction, supporting store operations, and boosting sales.

Key Duties

• Warmly welcome customers as they arrive at the checkout counter.
• Scan and verify product prices, apply any discounts or promotions, and complete payment transactions via cash, card, or mobile payments.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately, provide receipts and change as necessary.
• Manage product returns, exchanges, and refunds according to store guidelines.
• Balance the cash drawer at shift end, resolve discrepancies, and notify management of any issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area to uphold a professional environment.
• Assist customers with their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate store personnel.
• Inform customers about current promotions, loyalty programs, and special offers.
• Work collaboratively with the store team to restock items, bag purchases, and support peak busy times.
• Strictly comply with store policies related to loss prevention, security, and handling of cash.
• Report any faulty equipment, technical glitches, or customer concerns to the Store Manager promptly.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum educational qualification: Pass 12th grade.
• Previous cashier experience in retail or a fast-paced setting is advantageous.
• Comfortable with basic math and monetary transactions, and skilled in operating POS systems.
• Excellent customer service mindset: friendly, approachable, and patient.
• Strong verbal communication and ability to cooperate effectively with team members.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity when managing cash and transactions.
• Physically able to stand for long durations and perform moderate tasks such as bagging and restocking.
• Reliable, punctual, and capable of responsibly managing confidential information like cash and receipts.
• Language proficiency required: English and Kannada.
