Role overview
The Research Assistant / Research Analyst supports research work by gathering, structuring, examining, and interpreting both quantitative and qualitative information. The purpose of the role is to produce useful insights that can inform planning, business choices, and wider organizational goals.
This position is responsible for carrying out structured research, producing analytical outputs, and helping ensure research conclusions are accurate, dependable, and clearly presented.
Core responsibilities
- Source information from a wide range of materials, including industry publications, academic papers, financial records, surveys, databases, public records, and internal systems.
- Check, organize, and maintain research data so that it remains complete, consistent, and reliable throughout the process.
- Apply quantitative and qualitative methods to spot trends, patterns, risks, opportunities, and other findings relevant to the research goal.
- Prepare research deliverables such as reports, literature reviews, executive summaries, slide presentations, dashboards, and supporting documentation.
- Work with cross-functional teams, researchers, business units, and management to clarify research objectives, shape methods, support execution, and share evidence-based recommendations.
- Assist with survey creation, data gathering, competitor review, market research, benchmarking, and performance assessment where needed.
- Track industry movements, market shifts, economic factors, regulatory changes, and new technologies so research remains current and relevant.
- Help improve research methods, reporting quality, and data handling processes to make research work more effective and efficient.
Qualifications and skills
Applicants should have a solid grasp of research methods, quantitative and qualitative analysis, data collection practices, statistical ideas, business analysis, and information management. The ability to work through structured research and turn complex information into practical insights is important.
Strong proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis tools, presentation software, reporting tools, and business intelligence platforms is expected. Experience with statistical software, survey tools, databases, and data visualization tools is beneficial.
The role also calls for strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail, along with the judgment to assess information, confirm findings, and build recommendations based on evidence.
Knowledge of literature review methods, survey design, market research, competitor analysis, benchmarking, forecasting, data validation, and good research documentation practices is valuable.
Clear written and verbal communication is essential, as the role involves preparing professional research reports, summaries, presentations, and technical documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
