Regional Investigation Manager

Role Purpose

This position oversees investigations into theft and fraud to reduce liabilities and losses for Lowe's. It involves leading employee, organized retail crime (ORC), and fraud-related inquiries using company systems and processes while ensuring alignment with Lowe's policies. The role includes managing and coaching Asset Protection Services (APS) personnel and Market Organized Retail Crime Managers (MORCM).

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate employee dishonesty, organized retail crime, and fraudulent activities to mitigate losses across Lowe's stores.
• Perform remote investigations using digital tools and applications, including conducting phone interviews to shorten the duration of dishonest acts.
• Execute on-site investigations in stores with high loss trends or significant inventory shrinkage.
• Lead ongoing evaluation and coordination of training for APS staff at all levels, covering investigative techniques and system application usage.
• Guide the development and enhancement of investigation-related systems and tools for theft and fraud detection.
• Communicate case statuses and findings to regional and corporate APS leadership.
• Manage Market ORC Managers within the region, supervising investigation operations and daily tasks.
• Work collaboratively with Refund Administration and Lowe’s online fraud team to detect and prevent fraud and ORC activities.
• Direct all internal investigation cases managed by APS personnel, consulting senior leadership as needed.
• Participate in legislative efforts through ORCA to support retail prosecution of ORC offenders.
• Maintain active involvement in industry loss prevention groups (ORCA, RILA, MRC, CNP) to stay updated on theft trends and influence retail-friendly legislation.
• Handle legal investigations and complaints related to theft or fraud as assigned by leadership.
• Coach and develop MORCM, DAPSM, Senior APSM, and other leadership on investigative and interviewing skills.
• Analyze trends related to external, internal, and ORC theft and collaborate on strategic loss mitigation plans.
• Foster relationships with law enforcement agencies to support loss reduction efforts.
• Lead training initiatives on identifying shrink and theft behaviors using data intelligence, including social media analytics.
• Identify and communicate significant investigations, trends, and associated risks to APS leadership and personnel.
• Lead quality assurance and case management reviews to improve investigation effectiveness and reduce company liability.
• Implement consistent developmental and accountability practices for APS teams at all organizational levels concerning investigations, ORC tactics, and fraud detection technologies.
• Coordinate with Store Operations on policies to reduce in-store credit card fraud and ensure compliance with PCI regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 5 years military experience or equivalent in military police or special forces roles.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience managing multiple retail locations.
• 5+ years conducting investigative employee interviews.
• 3+ years experience handling organized retail crime investigations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Forensic Interviewer (CFI), Loss Prevention Certified (LPC), or Certified Interview and Interrogation Professional (Wicklander-Zulawski).
