Job description
About the Role
Join Noble Biomaterials, where your work impacts critical industries including military, healthcare, and everyday safety. As a Quality Engineering Technician on the 2nd shift (2pm-10pm), you will be deeply involved on the production floor providing immediate quality support. This hands-on role works closely with Fabric Operations, Process Engineering, and Production teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and proper documentation in a manufacturing environment. The position supports the expansion to a two-shift manufacturing schedule and acts as the key quality presence during second shift.
Key Duties
- Act as the main quality assurance representative on the floor during second shift operations.
- Perform fabric inspections including visual and in-process checks, and manage disposition decisions per established procedures.
- Collaborate with Fabric Quality Engineer, QE Manager, Operations, and Process Engineering for daily quality-related decisions.
- Ensure strict compliance with work instructions, control plans, and SOPs on the production floor.
- Track quality performance trends and assist with root cause investigations and failure analyses.
- Use quality tools such as InfinityQS, JMP, and Decision Logs to evaluate data and document any deviations.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely batch records, travelers, inspection records, and manufacturing documents in line with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Review and verify documentation for accuracy and compliance before escalation or release.
- Identify discrepancies between process documents and actual manufacturing protocols, raising issues as necessary.
Cross-Functional Support
- Assist Operations and Process Engineering with rapid identification and containment of issues on the production floor.
- Help implement and enforce process updates and procedural changes.
- Serve as the communication link for quality concerns and resolutions between shifts to promote continuity.
Continuous Improvement & Quality Culture
- Spot quality risks, repeat issues, and procedural gaps, escalating matters appropriately.
- Contribute to internal audits, inspections, and company-wide quality initiatives.
- Foster a robust quality culture through visibility, communication, and consistency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Quality or Operations leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Experience in manufacturing or quality environments is strongly preferred.
- Background as a production lead, senior operator, or quality technician is advantageous.
- Quality control experience desired; laboratory experience is not the focus.
- Proficiency with basic computer functions including Microsoft Office and electronic data entry.
- Familiarity with manufacturing documentation systems, GDP, and ISO 9001 principles is a plus.
- Sharp attention to detail with the ability to detect procedural or documentation variances.
- Strong decision-making skills within quality frameworks.
- Capability to remain on the manufacturing floor for extended periods.
- Precision in following procedures, with good judgment about when to escalate concerns.
- Self-driven and able to work independently during off-peak hours.
- Quick learner able to absorb new technical and procedural information efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams.
- Availability to train from 12pm-8pm until training is complete.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay starting at $18.00 to $22.00, dependent on experience.
- An additional $1.00 per hour for working second shift hours after 3pm.
- Weekly paycheck distribution every Thursday.
- Comprehensive benefits beginning the first month after hire including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) funded between $2,000 and $4,000 to assist with in-network deductibles via a company-funded debit card.
- Employer-paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage.
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and voluntary insurance options available.
- 401(k) plan with company matching contributions available after six months.
- 11 paid holidays plus paid time off (PTO).
