Job Overview
This role involves overseeing the quality assurance processes related to MS steel structural fabrication, welding, painting, and erection, ensuring all activities meet approved designs, project specifications, and relevant industry standards.
Key Duties
- Examine incoming materials to confirm Material Test Certificates (MTCs).
- Supervise fabrication stages including fit-up, welding, and dimensional accuracy checks.
- Perform visual inspections and manage non-destructive testing (NDT) such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), and Radiographic Testing (RT).
- Inspect surface preparation quality, painting procedures, and measure Dry Film Thickness (DFT).
- Check erection processes for quality, alignment, bolt tightening, and adherence to structural tolerances.
- Create and maintain quality-related documentation including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), inspection reports, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and overall quality dossiers.
- Ensure all operations comply with project requirements and standards such as ISO 9001, IS 800, AWS D1.1, among others.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and project teams during inspections and audits to uphold quality management.
- Identify and address quality issues, implement corrective measures, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, along with prior experience in structural steel fabrication and quality assurance/control.
