About the Company
Our client is a prominent heavy civil contractor specializing in significant transportation and infrastructure projects across New York City. Their expertise covers extensive bridge, tunnel, rail, transit, roadway, and other large-scale public infrastructure endeavors.
Position Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible for guiding the overall direction, delivery, and financial management of assigned heavy civil projects. This role demands coordination between field and office teams, overseeing relationships with owners and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage heavy civil infrastructure projects from the preconstruction phase through to project closeout.
- Supervise budgets, cost forecasting, scheduling, procurement processes, and manage change orders.
- Collaborate effectively with owners, public agencies, designers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Track project progress, productivity metrics, cash flow, and overall profitability.
- Handle Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, contracts, change orders, and maintain thorough project documentation.
- Lead project meetings and deliver clear progress updates to senior management.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality protocols, environmental regulations, and contractual commitments.
- Identify and resolve challenges related to construction, engineering, scheduling, and commercial aspects.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project engineers, assistant project managers, and supporting staff.
- Maintain strong client relations to support the effective completion of complex projects.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in heavy civil construction.
- Track record of successfully delivering major projects involving bridges, tunnels, rail, transit, roadways, or other infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of project controls, cost management, scheduling, and change-order procedures.
- Experience managing both self-performed work and subcontractor operations.
- Demonstrated ability to sustain project profitability while maintaining schedule, safety, and quality standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and client management capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with New York City public agencies and major transportation authorities is highly advantageous.
