Job description

About the Role

The Transformation Office manages oversight, governance, and project management activities across priority initiatives at the Queensland Police Service (QPS). These efforts focus on designing and executing transformation projects that deliver significant benefits to both the organisation and the community.

The Program Director is accountable for providing advanced program and project management expertise to lead and facilitate the creation and execution of various programs and projects within an extensive portfolio. This includes collaboration with key stakeholders and management of multidisciplinary teams. Projects under this role include critical operational systems such as telemetry, dispatch, and task management among others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement suitable project management methods, strategies, and tools to guarantee quality results while managing budgets and timelines effectively.
  • Lead the process of gathering requirements and defining project scope, actively engaging and negotiating with stakeholders across different organizational levels and areas.
  • Ensure projects comply with governance, reporting, and investment standards aligned with the QPS Project Management Framework.
  • Recognize and communicate major delivery risks and apply mitigation strategies to maintain risk control and achieve project benefits.
  • Maintain compliance with service quality, health and safety standards to ensure safe and consistent workplace practices aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Develop and nurture productive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate successful project and program outcomes.
  • Coordinate communication and change management by working with business units to assess operational changes impacting risk frameworks, personnel, technology, and processes.
  • Lead program and project teams by offering guidance, support, and direction on task prioritization and delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or formal project management credentials are essential.
  • At least 8 years' demonstrated experience managing programs and projects within large and complex organizational settings.
  • Specialized exposure in one or more operational or functional domains such as police operations, IT, policy and legislation, safety, asset management, procurement, finance, or human resources.
