Role Overview
Within the USP Programs, Regions, Operations, and Strategy (PROpS) Division, the Reference Standards Product Manager is accountable for managing the portfolio of Small Molecules, Complex Generics, and General Chapters reference standards throughout their product lifecycle. This individual contributor role involves leading product strategy, collaborating across departments such as Science, Operations, Sales, Pricing, and Marketing, and driving initiatives that optimize product mix, forecasting, and financial models to stimulate portfolio growth and sustain USP’s mission of elevating global health standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing item forecasting, pricing analysis, and margin management.
- Developing and presenting business cases for new and existing products.
- Monitoring industry and market trends alongside competitive intelligence to inform product strategies.
- Leading pipeline prioritization to align with segment value and organizational goals.
- Coordinating with Industry Programs, Science, and Operations to support new product launches.
- Assisting Industry Programs, Regional, and Sales teams with new product training and customer-oriented solutions.
- Driving continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy and product performance tracking.
- Managing product selection and discontinuation to enhance profitability and portfolio optimization.
- Identifying new product opportunities grounded in customer feedback and strategic insights.
- Collaborating with Marketing, Sales, and Regional teams to launch products and monitor market response.
- Maintaining up-to-date product roadmaps aligned with growth objectives.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Science; MBA preferred.
- Five to seven years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical sector or related areas.
- At least two years managing extensive product portfolios within B2B and/or B2C environments and leading cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with financial analysis, forecasting, and analytical tools to support data-driven decisions.
- Strong quantitative and critical thinking capabilities, comfortable managing complex information and generating actionable insights.
- Experience creating dashboards, templates, and comprehensive business cases rooted in customer and market analysis.
- Self-motivated and accountable individual contributor with a drive for results.
- Familiarity with syndicated data sources such as IQVIA, Cortellis, Dailymed.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
